Plaza Home Mortgage Raises $50,000-Plus for Red Cross Hurricane Relief

Plaza Home Mortgage Raises $50,000-Plus for Red Cross Hurricane ReliefThe devastation in and around the city of Houston made a lasting impact on Plaza Home Mortgage associates. In an effort to provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Harvey, Plaza associates nationwide raised just under $25,000, with Plaza deciding to match that amount to bring it to a current total of $49,057. In addition to these fundraising efforts, Plaza implemented a Paid Time Off (PTO) Donation program where associates could choose to donate their unused PTO direct from their paychecks to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. So far, about 40 hours of PTO have been donated by Plaza associates, bringing the total amount raised and donated to Red Cross to well over $50,000.

“With all of this devastation, we wanted to do anything we could to help,” said Plaza Home Mortgage President Kevin Parra. “It hits close to home, as we have associates living in the Houston area that have been directly impacted.”
The entire donation from Plaza has been donated directly to the Red Cross and their Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

“We can’t do what we do without the support of partners like Plaza Home Mortgage and their generous staff and leadership providing immense financial resources to our cause,” said Blake Bonfiglio of the Regional Philanthropy Office, American Red Cross. “This donation provides a warm shelter for over 1,500 people to sleep, serves over 5,000 meals and provides a cleaning kit for those families when they start their road to recovery. We’re proud to partner with an organization that shows its generosity to their communities.”

As of today, Plaza associates have turned their attention to Hurricane Irma relief efforts in the state of Florida. Plaza has launched another fundraising campaign for associates to contribute to Red Cross and provide financial assistance to those impacted by Hurricane Irma. Again, Plaza will match the final donation made by associates.
