MBA Swears In New Leadership
The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) kicked off its 2017 Annual Convention & Expo in Denver with the swearing in of new leadership for the coming 12 months.
Dave Motley, president of Colonial Savings FA and its divisions Colonial National Mortgage and CU Members Mortgage, was sworn as the MBA’s new chairman. He served for six years on the trade group’s board of directors and was most recently the 2017 chairman of the MBA's diversity and inclusion committee and has also served on MBA's Board of Directors for six years. Motely also served on MBA's Residential Board of Governors since 2008, including two years as the board’s chairman.
Christopher M. George, President and CEO of CMG Financial, and Brian Stoffers, Global President for Debt and Structured Finance at CBRE, were also sworn in as Chairman-Elect and Vice Chairman, respectively. The MBA also named 10 new members to its Board Of Directors: Jonathan H. Corr, President and CEO at Ellie Mae; Bill Cosgrove, CEO of Union Home Mortgage; Kristy Fercho, President of the Mortgage Division at Flagstar Bank; Michael Heagerty, Principal at Newmark Realty Capital; Frank Martell, President and CEO at CoreLogic; Stan Middleman, CEO at Freedom Mortgage; Eduardo Perez, President of Equity Prime Mortgage; Andrew Rippert, CEO at Arch Capital Group Ltd.; Richard Thornberry, CEO at Radian Guaranty Inc.; and William Walker, Chairman and CEO at Walker & Dunlop LLC.
“I am honored to serve as MBA’s 2018 Chairman and look forward to the year ahead,” said Motley. “It will be a pleasure to work with both Chris and Brian and together we will ensure that MBA serves its many members, of all sizes, by focusing on the issues that most affect the residential and commercial/multifamily industries."
The MBA also paid tribute to longtime veteran of the mortgage profession, Griffith (Griff) J. Straw, with the presentation of its E. Michael Rosser Education MBA Lifetime Achievement Award. Straw is a former Chairman of the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) Society and currently manages a self-named consulting practice. Prior to his semi-retirement in 2011, he was Vice President of Industry Relations for United Guaranty for nine years. Prior to joining United Guaranty in 2002, Straw was responsible for strategic opportunities for Freddie Mac in its business and product development groups.
