Freddie Mac has released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) in which the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 4.95 percent with an average 0.7 point for the week ending March 11, 2010, down from last week when it averaged 4.97 percent. Freddie Mac has announced today that its Conventional Mortgage Home Price Index (CMHPI) Purchase-Only Series registered a 0.4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2008 to the fourth quarter of 2009, a much smaller decline than the 9.5 percent drop in home prices recorded in 2008. In the final quarter of 2009, the U.S. Index was down 1.4 percent (-5.4 percent annualized) relative to the third quarter, on a not-seasonally adjusted basis.Read more
