HBO to Broadcast Documentary on Warren Buffett
It’s not common for a housing and mortgage industry executive to be the subject of a nationally broadcast biographical documentary. But, then again, not every housing and mortgage industry executive is Warren Buffett.
HBO has announced that it will present “Becoming Warren Buffett,” which details how Berkshire Hathaway chieftain’s rise from a humble Nebraska childhood to running the fourth-largest public company in the world. The documentary, which will have its premiere on Jan. 30 at 10:00 p.m. EST, is directed by Emmy Award-winning Peter Kunhardt and offers never-before-seen family photographs and home video footage, along with what is billed as “unprecedented access to his day-to-day personal life.”
Although a preview of the film has not been made available, the HBO promotional announcement gives the impression that this will be an extremely positive view of Buffett’s career.
“Buffett’s exemplary moral principles and passion are at the heart of his success,” the network announced, which suggest the film may not include his forays into partisan politics as an advocate for the Obama Administration’s tax plan and Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential bid, as well as the predatory lending controversies surrounding the Buffett-owned Clayton Homes Inc. and its subsidiaries, Vanderbilt Mortgage and 21st Mortgage.
