Four Discussion Topics for a Productive NS3 Event
As we prepare to travel to Detroit for the 2018 National Settlement Services Summit (NS3), my team and I have been preparing for the critical conversations we know will take place at this important show.
For this 14th annual show, October Research promises a “world-class conference [that] features a lineup of industry experts who will discuss topics impacting your business.” The company has said, “The agenda blends a mixture of both business and regulatory topics to provide attendees with innovative strategies for remaining profitable and compliant through educational presentations, dynamic panel discussions and instructional breakout sessions.”
The agenda this NS3 will blend a mixture of both business and regulatory topics to help attendees efficiently play their role in the real estate transaction innovative strategies to cut back on costs and get ahead.
I think the conference planners have done a great job this year. There are 4 conference sessions, in particular, that I’m excited about attending and then discussing with my fellow attendees afterward. These are areas that, as a company, we have been following as well
1. From Zero to eClosing
There are now a number of states that have adopted legislation allowing some form of eNotarizations. In this session, lenders and title executives will talk about how these new laws impact eClosing adoption. Everything is going electronic and it’s time for the closing to join the rest of the processes that the industry has already taken fully digital. If we’re delivering information electronically, like our SmartProp property search and SmartTrak real estate tax platforms, why go to the expense of papering out?
2. Underwriter Panel: Conversations with the C-Suite
Don’t underestimate the importance of a great underwriter. We’re going to discuss what the key issues are for these professionals. I’m looking forward to it as these are the people who review many of the information reports that we provide to the industry. They’ll talk Blockchain, compliance, cybersecurity and other topics. This could be the show’s most interesting session.
3. Cybersecurity: A Plan for the Attack
This is so important but also a constantly moving target. Companies that don’t have a plan to defend their data, customers and company are planning to fail. And failure here carries stiff consequences. We know a thing or two about this, as well, including being certified in ISO 27001:2013, PCI DSS V3.2, SSAE 18 SOC 1 & SOC 2 and having our own Information Security and Risk Management practice that we offer to our customers.
4. Perfecting Closings Together
In this session, three national lenders will talk about closings and address pain points. The planners promise a discussion about meaningful collaboration. Nothing could be more important in our business. We’ve built our reputation on it. Our products and services are closely tied to servicing title agents and settlement service organizations close mortgage loans quickly and without errors. We support E2E title services right from data entry to policy preparation
The closing process needs to go digital, with added security measures to ensure no risk.
If you’re going to be at the NS3 this year, I hope we get a chance to discuss these sessions and talk about the ways you can save money, while being ahead in the above areas, in this highly competitive environment. It’s what we help firms in this industry do every day and so it should be a stimulating conversation. See you in Detroit! Contact us at [email protected] for a quick meeting.
