Congress recognizes the work of mortgage brokers: June 7 proclaimed National Mortgage Broker DayMortgagePress.comNational Mortgage Broker Day,June 7 The National Association of Mortgage Brokers announced that Congress, led by Ohio Rep. Bob Ney, issued a proclamation, officially declaring Monday, June 7, as "National Mortgage Broker Day." The proclamation was entered into the Congressional Record on May 11. Additionally, NAMB has declared June 2004 as "National Mortgage Broker Month." During this month and throughout the year, NAMB members in all 50 states and the District of Columbia will present the "Are You Prepared to Head Down the Road to Homeownership?" program to a variety of consumers, including minority and first-time prospective home buyers. NAMB will work with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, who every year during June sponsors National Homeownership Month in an effort to raise public awareness and educate Americans on the value of owning their own home. In order to meet this challenge, HUD is co-sponsoring four homeownership expos across America during June, which NAMB will supplement with members from its state affiliates.
