Bill Warren, the chief compliance officer of Empire Equity Group
Inc and its d/b/a, 1st Metropolitan Mortgage, was awarded the
American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR)
2008 Distinguished Service Award. Warren was recognized for his
service to the association and the industry, including teaching in
the AARMR examiner school, licensing school and for serving as an
AARMR affiliate member for more than 10 years and six years on its
industry advisory council.
Each year the AARMR formally recognizes the outstanding
achievements of its members who participate in the advancement of
the programs and missions of AARMR. "We recognize Bill Warren for
his many years of service to AARMR, including teaching at our
schools, serving on the advisory council and always being willing
to lend a hand," said David Bleicken, president of AARMR.
Warren has been the chief compliance officer for 1st
Metropolitan since 2001. Prior to that, he was the chief compliance
officer for another major national mortgage company based in
Houston and before that, he was a compliance officer for a law firm

"With nearly 30 years of experience, 17 of which involved the

production, Bill has always had a unique balance of first-hand
practical origination knowledge, being an authority on mortgage
compliance and being able to communicate with people in terms they
understand," said Daniel Jacobs, CEO of 1st Metropolitan. "He is
able to understand the most complex issues and convey understanding
and implementation in complete but simple terms. We are proud of
Bill's accomplishment in the industry and that he is our chief
compliance officer."
Warren is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute. He
served 10 years as a U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer and is a
decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
