Rodrigo López Nominated as Vice Chair of MBA

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) has announced the nomination of Rodrigo López, CMB, founder, president and CEO of AmeriSphere, to be its vice chair for the 2015 membership year. He will be elected by MBA members at the Association's 101st Annual Convention, which will be held in October in Las Vegas, Nevada. "I am very pleased to announce Rodrigo López’s nomination as vice chair of the Mortgage Bankers Association for next year," said MBA Chairman E.J Burke. “As chairman of the MBA and the commercial/multifamily representative in our team of officers, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Rodrigo. He is as knowledgeable, capable and generous as anyone in our industry, and he will make an excellent addition to MBA’s leadership.” López currently holds the position of chairman of MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily board of governors.  He has served on the association’s board of directors since 2009, along with a previous stint on the Board from 2003-2004. López was the recipient of MBA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2010 and Burton C. Wood Legislative Service Award in 2002. Along with his work for MBA, López also serves as chairman of the United Way of the Midlands board of directors, vice chairman of Children’s Hospital and Medical Center board of directors, and a member, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha’s advisory council. He also won the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 “Big O! Excellence Award for Minority Business of the Year” and their 2011 “Volunteer of the Year Award.” Before founding AmeriSphere, López was chief lending officer for a life insurance company, responsible for investments in commercial mortgage loans and real estate properties. During his tenure in the architecture and construction industry, he worked on a wide range of commercial and institutional projects. He holds B.S. and EMBA degrees from the University of Nebraska.
