HomeBridge Financial Services Inc. has announced that The Brandy Whitmire Mortgage Team in its Dallas-area branch is now an approved Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) lender

In line with its commitment to making the homebuying process as easy as possible for its borrowers, HomeBridge Financial Services Inc. has announced that The Brandy Whitmire Mortgage Team in its Dallas-area branch is now an approved Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) lender. Through the TSAHC program, The Brandy Whitmire Mortgage Team is now able to assist first responders, military veterans, nurses and educators, including teacher aides, purchase the home of their dreams through downpayment assistance grants and low, fixed-rate mortgages.

The TSAHC program allows certain potential homebuyers who may not have enough saved for a downpayment, but otherwise meet the criteria needed to make them trustworthy borrowers, to secure a home mortgage. Those that can qualify for the TSAHC program include teachers, school librarians and nurses, firefighters, EMS personnel, police and corrections officers, and military veterans. The program can be used by both first time and repeat borrowers, as well as those looking to refinance an existing mortgage.

“As a Dallas native with strong roots in our community, I truly believe that it’s important to support those that support us every day. The Dallas HomeBridge team took the time to become a TSAHC certified lender specifically so we can help those that have dedicated their careers to caring for us, purchase homes in the communities they protect and serve,” said Whitmire.

To qualify for TSAHC assistance, in addition to meeting employment and income requirements, the borrower must also attend a homebuyer education course, many of which are free, and work with an approved TSAHC lender, such as The Brandy Whitmire Mortgage Team at HomeBridge. The TSAHC does not require the borrower to file any additional paperwork or pay additional fees outside of what they normally would when securing or refinancing a traditional home mortgage.

In addition to providing downpayment assistance through TSAHC, The Brandy Whitmire Mortgage Team is also certified to help Dallas-area homebuyers take advantage of the TSAHC's Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) Program. Through the MCC, homebuyers may take up to $2,000 of the annual interest paid on their mortgage loan as a tax credit every year. The MCC Program has the potential to save homebuyers thousands of dollars over the term of their mortgage loan.
