New Global CEO at Urban Land Institute

W. Edward (Ed) Walter has been named Global Chief Executive Officer at the Urban Land Institute (ULI)

W. Edward (Ed) Walter has been named Global Chief Executive Officer at the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He succeeds Patrick L. Philipps, who stepped down after leading the ULI for the past nine years.

In his new role, Walter will focus on expanding ULI membership and strengthening member engagement across the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions. Walter was most recently the Steers Chair in Real Estate at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Prior to that, he was CEO of Host Hotels and Resorts Inc., a lodging industry real estate investment trust, from 2007 to 2016.
 
In addition, Walter is also Co-Chairman of the Real Estate Roundtable’s Research Committee. He previously chaired the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts from 2012 to 2013 and was Chairman of the CEO Council at the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
