Median Rents Remain Mostly Flat

For the first time since February 2017, the national average rent decreased, according to new data from RENTCafé

National median rents in November were mostly flat, with one-bedroom units down by .08 percent from October and two-bedroom units posting a .24 percent decline, according to new data from ABODO.
 
Boulder, Colo., recorded the greatest rent increase in the one-bedroom unit market, up 7.9 percent from $1,641 to $1,771, while Columbus, Ohio, saw the greatest rent decline with a 7.5 percent drop from $1,193 to $1,103. Among the two-bedroom unit markets, Scottsdale, Ariz., recorded the greatest rent hike with a 6.2 percent increase from a median rent of $2,520 to $2676, while Cleveland posted a significant 11.8 percent drop from $851 in October to $751 in November.
 
And, once again, San Francisco led the nation with the highest rents: the median rent on a one-bedroom unit was $3,816 while a two-bedroom unit carried a median rent of $4,854.
