Spotlight on ... American Brokers Conduit Senior Vice President of Eastern Wholesale Operations Robert O'BranovichEric C. PeckAmerican Home Mortgage, American Brokers Conduit, broker relationship manager (BRM) In determining what makes American Home Mortgage tick, The Mortgage Press took the opportunity to interview Robert O'Branovich, senior vice president of eastern wholesale operations for American Homes wholesale division, American Brokers Conduit. How do you feel that American Brokers Conduit has benefited mortgage brokers in the eastern region of the country? I think there are three basic benefits provided by American Brokers Conduit (ABC) that truly assist the broker community. First, we are a one-stop shop. We provide a full menu of products, so we always have a product that suits the broker's needs. Second, we have remained consistent in our pricing. In other words, we don't play games by coming in and then pulling out of the market ... we are consistently competitive. Third, we have a unique job position at ABC--the broker relationship manager (BRM). The BRM provides inside sales support which serves two purposes: It gives the brokers an additional person to call for support and allows the account executive to focus on getting new business. What are some of the stronger markets in your region, and to what do you attribute this strength? Our strongest markets are New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida. These markets are strong because we have local production offices in these states and we have seasoned, knowledgeable AEs serving those areas. What aspect of American Home Mortgage has made the company a success? American Home Mortgage is unique in the respect that it is a large, publicly traded firm on the New York Stock Exchange that has a small company feel and attitude. Being a large company provides us certain efficiencies of scale and stature, but being able to make quick adjustments and react to market changes rapidly like a smaller company is definitely a great combination that makes us successful. As far as the industry is concerned, what does the future hold for your region? I feel the future is very bright for ABC. We have seen phenomenal growth over the past year and we have only just begun! We still have numerous markets to tap into which will allow us to grow for years to come, no matter how the market changes.
