At the upcoming National Association of Mortgage Brokers 2005
Annual Convention and Exposition in Minneapolis, NAMB will
officially pass the torch of leadership to a worthy and capable
group of season mortgage professionals for the 2005-2006 term.
NAMB's leadership will continue to strive for the betterment of the
mortgage broker profession through its strong legislative ties on
Capitol Hill, an expanded educational curriculum, and through
continued outreach to the consumer through public education.
Congratulations to the following individuals as they prepare to
lead the association into the next year.
President James Nabors, CRMS
(One-year term)
Since graduating from the University of Akron in 1976, Jim Nabors
has made a dedicated commitment to the mortgage broker industry.
Jim formed his own mortgage brokerage firm in 1989 and now serves
as a director of Sandusky, Ohio-based Mr. Money.
"NAMB has been in the lead as far as protection and legislation
are concerned," notes Jim. "NAMB has improved the image of the
mortgage broker industry, is on the forefront of wanting to clean
up the industry and has provided a great deal of education.
Education is the silver bullet. All of our problems can be solved
by education, whether it's educating consumer advocates,
legislators, regulators, the general public, or just educating our
membership."
In 1990, Jim became a charter member of the Mortgage Brokers
Association of Ohio, and served as both vice president of
legislation and as president. Since merging with the Ohio
Affiliation of Mortgage Brokers to become the Ohio Association of
Mortgage Brokers, he has served as OAMB vice president of
government affairs, president-elect, two terms as statewide
president, past president, and most recently Northwest Chapter
president, as well as an honorary member. Jim has served as
chairman of OAMB's Political Action Committee and NAMB's PAC. He
has participated on the HUD mortgage reform task force and spent
three years as NAMB Legislative Committee chairman. In 2001, he was
selected as NAMB's Broker of the Year and served as chair of NAMB's
2002 Annual Convention in Cleveland, "NAMB Rocks."
"I've learned a lot with NAMB about being a mortgage broker,"
says Jim. "I'm an introvert and had a hard time speaking in front
of people, but I kind of think Ive overcome that."
President-Elect Harry H. Dinham, CMC
(One-year term)
Harry Dinham is president of the Dinham Companies in Plano, Texas
and has been involved in the mortgage industry for 35 years. He
served as president of the Texas Association of Mortgage Brokers in
1999. Additionally, he has served as Legislative Committee chair
and secretary for the Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Mortgage
Brokers (DFWAMB). Harry has served in leadership roles in many
capacities at NAMB, including as a member of the NAMB Board of
Directors, By-Laws Committee chair, treasurer, Strategic Alliance
Committee chair and as a member of the Membership Committee.
Vice President George Hanzimanolis, CRMS
(One-year term)
George Hanzimanolis is president of Bankers First Mortgage in
Tannersville, Pa. He served as president of the Pennsylvania
Association of Mortgage Brokers and has been honored by PAMB as the
1998 Mortgage Broker of the Year, 2003 Volunteer of the Year, and
in 2002 and 2004, received the PAMB President's Award. George has
served on the NAMB Membership Committee, FHA/VA/Affordable Housing
Committee and as a member of the Delegate Council. He currently
serves on the NAMB Board of Directors, chairs the Industry Partners
Committee and is a member of the NAMB PAC Founders' Club. In 2004,
he was selected as NAMB Broker of the Year. George will serve as
chair of the NAMB Convention Committee in 2006, "NAMB SoarsLife,
Liberty and the Pursuit of Home Ownership."
Secretary Kate Crawford
(One-year term)
Kate Crawford is manger of Corporate Investors Mortgage Group in
Burlington, N.C. She has 30-plus years of experience in the
mortgage industry. Kate is co-founder and past president of the
North Carolina Association of Mortgage Professionals. She has
helped write the North Carolina predatory lending law and the
mortgage lending law (licensing). Kate has served on several NAMB
committees, including the Legislative Committee, FHA/VA/Affordable
Housing Committee, Fair Lending Committee, Nominating Committee and
Awards Committee, to name a few.
Treasurer Allan Daniels
(One-year term)
Allan Daniels is president of AA Mortgage Corporation in Bloomfield
Hills, Mich. He has more than 16 years of experience in the
mortgage industry. He is a past president of the Michigan Mortgage
Brokers Association, is a three-time winner of the MMBA Broker of
the Year Award and the first recipient of the MMBA Lifetime
Achievement Award. He has served on several NAMB committees,
including the Government Affairs Committee, By-Laws Committee, the
Delegate Council and has also served as NAMB regional vice
chair.
Immediate Past President Bob Armbruster
(One-year term)
Bob Armbruster has owned and operated Armbruster Mortgage Services
Inc. in Atlanta since 1984, and has been involved in loan
production and private consulting. He has also served on NAMB's
Board as 2004-2005 president and also held a term as treasurer. In
addition, he served on the following NAMB Committees: as co-chair
of the Legislative Committee, States Issues, PAC; Government
Affairs Committee; chair of the Finance Committee and Southeast
regional vice chair. On the local level, Bob served as president of
the Georgia Association of Mortgage Professionals.
Director Jim Pair
(Three-year term)
Jim Pair is founder and president of Mortgage Associates Corpus
Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas. He has more than 40 years'
experience in the mortgage industry, having served as president of
the Texas Association of Mortgage Brokers in 2000. Jim was
instrumental in forming the Corpus Christi Chapter of TAMB and
served as the chapter's first president. He also served a six-year
term on the Mortgage Advisory Board for the Texas Savings and Loan
Department. Jim has served on various NAMB committees, most
recently, a chair of the Membership Committee.
Director Marc Savitt
(Three-year term)
Marc Savitt is president of The Mortgage Center of Martinsburg, W.
Va. He has 20-plus years of experience in the mortgage industry,
and served as president, vice president and treasurer of the West
Virginia Association of Mortgage Brokers. He serves on the Fannie
Mae Advisory Council for both West Virginia and the Southeast
region. Marc has served on various NAMB committees, most recently,
as chair of the Government Affairs Committee.
Director J. Thad McIntyre, CRMS
(Two-year term)
Thad McIntyre is founder and president of Nationwide Home Loans in
Waveland, Miss. He has more than 12 years of experience in the
mortgage industry. Thad is a state and national certified mortgage
industry trainer and instructor. He is currently past president of
the Mississippi Association of Mortgage Brokers, where he has
served on the Board of Directors for five years. In 2003, Thad was
named Broker of the Year for the state of Mississippi. He has
participated in the building of the Mississippi Mortgage Consumer
Protection Act, has written the state law and compliance course for
continuing education in the mortgage industry, and has developed
the Mississippi Residential Mortgage Specialist designation (MRMS).
Thad has served on several NAMB committees, most recently, as chair
of the Certification Committee.
Director John Porter
(Two-year term)
John Porter is owner and vice president of Mortgage Master Service
Corporation in Kent, Wash. He has more than 18 years of experience
in the mortgage industry, and has served as president of the
Washington Association of Mortgage Brokers in 1996. John has been
instrumental in establishing the WAMB Mortgage Brokers Act, chaired
WAMB's Political Action Committee, and served as treasurer of WAMB.
In 2001, John established and co-chaired NAMB's Credit Scoring
Committee, co-chaired the Membership Committee, and has helped to
develop the NAMB Strategic Alliance program. John has served on
various other committees and is a member of the NAMB PAC Founders
Club.
Director Michael DAlonzo, CMC
(One-year term)
Michael D'Alonzo is owner and president of Creative Mortgage Group
Inc. in Willow Grove, Pa. He has 18-plus years of experience in the
mortgage industry. Mike has served as president of the Pennsylvania
Association of Mortgage Brokers for two consecutive years,
2000-2002. He has also served as chapter president for PAMB's
Philadelphia region, chaired, and served on various other
committees for PAMB. He is a certified instructor and trainer on
the state and national levels. Mike has chaired the NAMB Editorial
Committee, and has served on the By-Laws, Membership, Nominating
and various other NAMB committees.
Director Jane Estes, CRMS
(One-year term)
Jane Estes is president of Summit Mortgage Services Inc. She has 13
years of experience in mortgage lending, with both conforming and
non-conforming loans. She holds the national designation of
Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist (CRMS) and is a graduate
of the Residential Mortgage Lending School (GRML). These
certifications translate into knowledge and experience in all
aspects of mortgage brokering within North Carolina, and require
annual state and national continuing education. Jane has served as
1999 president of Charlotte Area Mortgage Professionals, and in
1999, as an at-large Board member of the North Carolina Association
of Mortgage Professionals. Jane has served on various NAMB
committees, including the Nominating and Government Affairs
Committees, and a member of the Delegate Council. Most recently,
Jane served as chair of the Fair Lending Sub-Committee.
