The National Association of Mortgage Brokers begins its second
regional conference, NAMB/SOUTHEAST, on Friday, Aug. 22, at the
Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. NAMB/SOUTHEAST is
a five-day conference for NAMB members and other mortgage industry
professionals from around the country. The entire Aug. 22-26, 2008,
conference takes place on the waterfront in New Orleans, in the
heart of the famous Crescent City.
Senator David Vitter (R-LA) will be among the prominent speakers
addressing conference attendees. He will speak to NAMB's national
leadership and state delegates on Sunday morning, Aug. 24.
NAMB/SOUTHEAST events include education and professional
certification courses; an industry symposium; business-building,
leadership and networking tips; government affairs updates;
association business meetings; and a tradeshow. More than 60 hours
of continuing education is available on topics from FHA and VA
lending to commercial mortgage brokerage and identity theft.
"The Power of Partnerships," a full-day symposium on Saturday,
will include government affairs updates on the latest lending,
licensing and other bills and laws affecting the business,
including a presentation by a Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
official focused on the recent changes to the FHA programs. The
successful CRMS/CMC intensive preparation workshop returns at
NAMB/SOUTHEAST, preparing brokers for NAMBs professional
certification exams. The exhibit hall opens Monday afternoon with a
reception, and gives conference attendees two days of direct access
to companies offering valuable products and services for their
