WFG National Title Insurance Names Steven Winkler Chief Underwriting Counsel

WFG National Title Insurance Company has announced that Steven Winkler has been named chief underwriting counsel. Winkler, a long-time industry attorney, will also serve as corporate secretary for WFG National Title and its parent, Williston Financial Group. WFG National Title is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oregon-based Williston Financial Group. The Williston Financial Group family of title insurers is currently licensed and operating in 37 jurisdictions nationwide. The company is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for lender, commercial and residential transactions nationwide.
Winkler has served the title insurance industry in a variety of legal and management positions for 38 years. He was most recently corporate underwriting counsel for a large, national underwriter. Winkler is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA). He is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, where he serves as an Emeritus Member, Executive Committee of the Real Property Section, and as a member of the Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law. Winkler is additionally a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He received his BA from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
As chief underwriting counsel, Winkler will be responsible for title insurance underwriting for all members of the Williston Financial Group family of companies, including WFG National Title and New Millennium Title Group. He will also be charged with developing underwriting resources and training for the company, its clients and partners. Winkler will further manage all reinsurance relationships, and serve as a resource in regulatory and compliance matters.
