BluFi Direct Mortgage Team Volunteers and Donates $5,000 to Support Local Seniors Living in Poverty

BluFi Direct Mortgage, an online direct lender for home loans, and its community outreach program, BluFi Cares, gathered at The Angel’s Depot warehouse in Vista, Calif. during the holidays to pack boxes of food to be distributed to San Diego County seniors living in poverty. BluFi also donated $5,000 to help purchase food and supplies needed by The Angel’s Depot throughout the year.
“One of our goals at BluFi is to help the community where it’s needed most. We admire the work of The Angel’s Depot to provide nourishing food for impoverished elderly in our area and wanted to help with some funding and volunteers,” said BluFi Direct Mortgage Chief Executive Officer and President John Lee. “What was truly amazing is that we asked for several volunteers from our staff and more than 40 employees stepped up, exceeding our expectations for the project! We’ve got a great team with a big heart.”
The motivated BluFi Cares team broke a record for the number of boxes packed in one night at The Angel’s Depot with 656 boxes. The Angel's Depot was founded to provide food for the elderly living below the poverty line in San Diego County and to help improve the quality of their lives. The Angel's Depot also promotes community awareness and support for impoverished seniors’ plight, and acts as a conduit to other available senior resources.
“We look forward to getting more involved in our community in 2011," said Lee. "It is our goal to continue to serve the San Diego County community where most of our team lives.”
BluFi is also dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. BluFi Cares, Community Outreach Program participated in the Dress for Success suit drive, which donates business suits, shoes and accessories to low-income job seekers. Other community events are planned throughout the year.
