MBA Names New VP of Education

David H. Stevens, president and chief executive officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), has announced the appointment of Jeffrey M. Schummer as VP of education. In his role, Schummer will be responsible for driving the strategic vision, development and growth of MBA's educational programs. "MBA's educational programs are second to none and I know of no one better to head up our education team than Jeff," said Stevens. "I am thrilled that he agreed to come on board at such a historic time for our industry and I have every confidence that his strategic and innovative vision will help to advance CampusMBA and broaden professional development opportunities for MBA's members and the industry." Before joining MBA, Schummer was a servicing relationship manager for single family at the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) where he supported servicer FHA loss mitigation improvement efforts. He also served as president of property and casualty at Financial Independence and senior VP at Wachovia Corporation. In addition, he held several management positions at World Savings & Loan in San Antonio, Texas. Schummer's experience includes designing and implementing mortgage banking educational content through e-class, webinar, and live instructor sessions in servicing, origination, underwriting, and business operations for mid and large size lenders, multi-billion dollar banking institutions, and the FHA. Schummer received a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from California State University in Northridge. He will reports to MBA's Chief Economist Jay Brinkmann, whose responsibilities will now include education as well as research and economics and industry technology.
