Mortgage Master Inc. has named Don Henig, a fixture in the mortgage banking business since entering the field in 1985, as national sales director. Based in Walpole, Mass., Henig will direct the 250-person sales organization across Mortgage Master's 30 branch offices, implementing both online and branch-based sales strategies to boost sales nationally. Most recently, Henig was managing director of Recovco Mortgage Management, a large forensic underwriting firm representing many of the largest mortgage lenders in the nation. In 1987, Henig founded the New York Association of Mortgage Brokers (NYAMB), served as president of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB)and was the first broker to serve on the Board of Governors of Mortgage Bankers of America, as well as that organization's executive committee. In addition, he has testified before both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives on mortgage-related matters. As president of third-party lending (Internet, wholesale and correspondent) with American Home Mortgage (AHM) from 2001-2007, Don and his team produced $300 million in net profits in a single year. He and his teams built the Internet division to the fifth largest in the nation, wholesale to the sixth largest and most profitable, while the correspondent division was on track to originate $12 billion in its first year. "I've been very fortunate to work along side some of the best and I greatly look forward to doing the same with the great people at Mortgage Master," said Henig. Previously, Henig founded, built and sold a mortgage banking firm, and a mortgage franchise that he owned. "Don's breadth of experience in the mortgage banker business and his demonstrated ability to create a positive sales culture in small and large organizations make him a perfect leader for our company," said Mortgage Master Chief Executive Officer Leif Thomsen. "He managed divisions representing $60 billion of annual originations at American Home Mortgage. His ability to grow origination expertise and bringing that large company experience into Mortgage Master will help us grow to the next level."
