Bank of America Partners With NID-Housing Counseling Agency on Foreclosure Prevention

Bank of America has formed a partnership with NID-Housing Counseling Agency (NID-HCA) to help eligible, hard-to-reach homeowners become aware of their options to have a free independent foreclosure review completed. As part of a consent order with federal bank regulators, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) (independent bureaus of the U.S. Department of the Treasury), and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Bank of America and their affiliates, along with 13 major mortgage servicers and their affiliates, have identified customers who were part of a foreclosure action on their primary residence during the period of Jan. 1, 2009 to Dec. 31, 2010, to make them aware of their eligibility to participate in the Independent Foreclosure Review.
NID-HCA will leverage its network of counselors and partner organizations across the country to:
►Integrate the Independent Foreclosure Review education in outreach events it participates in to help counsel homeowners;
►Provide application assistance by holding housing clinics designed to assist eligible customers with completing Request for Review Forms; and
►Provide information to leaders in the housing, minority civic and social organizations, and real estate trade industry to help inform those in their sphere of influence.
"NID-HCA has over 25 years of experience providing services in minority and underserved communities," said Jacqueline Carlisle, NID's executive director. "I'm confident we will have a significant impact to help homeowners become aware of their options. We applaud Bank of America's continued effort to be proactive in this area, and we're honored to partner with them."
NID-HCA has been an active partner with Bank of America, assisting at-risk clients daily across the country and participating in face-to-face outreach events in local communities. Assisting to increase awareness of the Independent Foreclosure Review will expand this relationship.
