Broker Action Coalition Names Jamie Cavanaugh CEO
The reAlpha Mortgage chief takes on a second CEO role as BAC looks to build on its successful trigger-lead campaign
The Broker Action Coalition has named mortgage industry veteran Jamie Cavanaugh its chief executive officer, elevating a recently appointed board member to lead the organization’s growth, fundraising, and broker recruitment efforts.
Cavanaugh will continue serving as CEO of reAlpha Mortgage while leading the grassroots advocacy organization, according to BAC. She succeeds Rachel Clark, who is stepping down as executive director.
The appointment comes less than five months after Cavanaugh joined BAC’s board of directors and as the organization looks to convert its biggest federal policy victory into greater influence in Washington.
BAC spent years lobbying to restrict abusive trigger leads, organizing congressional meetings and generating thousands of messages to lawmakers. The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act was signed into law in September 2025 and took effect in March, sharply limiting when consumer reporting agencies can sell mortgage trigger leads.
“BAC has already proven what focused, effective advocacy can accomplish,” Cavanaugh said. “My goal is to build on that foundation. To expand our reach, bring more people into the movement, and make sure BAC has the resources and influence to be an even stronger voice for the industry.”
Cavanaugh brings 30 years of mortgage industry experience and has owned and managed multiple mortgage companies. Before joining reAlpha Mortgage, she held senior positions at Amerifund Home Loans, Prospect Mortgage, and Bank of America. She has been licensed as a California real estate broker and mortgage loan originator since 2001.
Her appointment adds another responsibility during an active period for reAlpha. The company completed its acquisition of InstaMortgage on Aug. 21, adding direct lending capabilities to reAlpha’s technology-focused homebuying platform.
BAC President and Co-Founder Brendan McKay will remain in his role and work alongside Cavanaugh. Under the division of responsibilities outlined by the organization, Cavanaugh will concentrate on strategy, growth, and resources, while McKay continues overseeing policy advocacy and industry relationships.
“Jamie is smart, ethical, and relentless,” McKay said. “The broker channel is her community, and she is going to fight like hell for the people in it.”
Cavanaugh called on brokers to become more directly involved in the organization through participation and financial support.
“If you believe brokers deserve a strong voice in the decisions that affect our businesses and our clients, get involved,” she said. “Support the BAC. Show up. Donate. Help us grow this movement.”
“And if you don’t come find me first, that’s okay,” Cavanaugh added. “I’ll darken your doorstep eventually.”
Clark had served as BAC’s executive director since January 2025, when co-founder Katie Sweeney moved into a board advisory role before joining Rocket Pro to lead broker strategy and advocacy. Clark began with BAC as a Texas state captain and co-chair of its State Government Affairs Advocacy Council before moving into operational leadership.
“Rachel’s contributions to the BAC are difficult to overstate,” McKay said. “The BAC Jamie is stepping into is stable, growing, and positioned for an exciting next chapter because Rachel helped build that foundation.”
BAC represents independent mortgage brokers in federal and state policy debates through lobbying, grassroots campaigns, coalition building, regulatory advocacy, and its annual Advocacy in Action fly-in.
