Gateway Mortgage Opens Two New Midwest Locations

Apr 19, 2012

Gateway Mortgage Group has announced the opening of two new branches in the St. Louis area in Maryville, Ill., and in St. Charles, Mo. Gateway recruited John P. Kroot to lead the Maryville office and Craig Wania to manage the St. Charles location. Prior to joining Gateway, Kroot was a branch manager with MetLife Home Loans and previously held leadership positions with several local lenders and banks. Wania was most recently a mortgage originator with First State Bank of St. Charles and was voted a Five Star Mortgage Professional in 2011 and 2012 by clients, peers and industry experts. The Maryville branch serves the nearby counties of Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Macoupin and Clinton while the St. Charles location is dedicated to the areas of St. Charles, St. Louis, Lincoln, Warren and Jefferson. “As some lenders have left the retail lending space, Gateway has had the opportunity to gain a number of talented individuals,” said Kevin Stitt, president of Gateway Mortgage Group. “We offer loan officers an ideal balance of independence and support, alleviating the operational burden for branch managers so that they can focus on originating loans. John and Craig will be strong stewards of Gateway’s principles in the St. Louis area and we look forward to serving borrowers there.”
