NRMLA Announces 2012 Annual Conference in Lone Star State

Aug 10, 2012

The National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) has announced its 2012 Annual Meeting & Expo, dubbed the “Reverse Mortgage Roundup,” will be held Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. This year’s event will present exciting new opportunities for reverse mortgage professionals. Product innovation and adjustment over the past few years have attracted interest from new constituencies to the reverse mortgage market, such as financial planners, academic researchers and builders—all of whom will be invited. And with Election Day only three weeks after the event, there will be discussions of national politics and the potential impacts for the economy, American business and the reverse mortgage industry.   “The name of the event is not just based on its Texas location,” said NRMLA President and CEO Peter Bell. “It reflects our intent to expand on what is already the largest annual gathering of reverse mortgage professionals by corralling all these new stakeholders in our industry under the one roof. Reverse Mortgage Roundup will be your chance to speak with professionals in related fields who can help you expand your business—in addition to networking with our industry colleagues and HUD officials. It is an opportunity for us to come together, learn from the experts and from each other, and plan for the most successful path forward as we provide the highest level of service to America’s seniors.” The three-day summit will combine key-note speeches, panel discussions, debates and workshops on some of the industry’s most critical issues. Participants will have access to an exhibition hall featuring information from wholesale lenders, technology providers, title insurers and other third-party vendors. Confirmed speakers include: ►Carol Galante, acting Federal Housing Administration (FHA) commissioner ►Charles Coulter, HUD deputy assistant secretary for single-family housing ►Ted Tozer, president of Ginnie Mae ►Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN) ►Jared Bernstein, former chief economic adviser to Vice President Joe Biden
