Mitt Romney Takes Part in Mortgage Banking Roundtable Discussion

Oct 09, 2012

Ty Jenkins, founder and chief executive officer of DocuTech Corporation, and Glenn Stearns, chairman of Stearns Corporation and chief executive officer of a portfolio of financial services companies, including Stearns Lending, Stearns Wholesale, Goverline, TriVerify, TriMavin, CU Partners and First Pacific Financial, co-hosted a Mortgage Banking Industry Leadership Roundtable featuring Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. “Day in and day out, I hear concerns from lenders—large and small—about increasing regulations in mortgage industry and the impact it will have on their businesses,” said Jenkins. “They are seeking insight into the best ways to both make their voices heard by our government administration today and how to position themselves for success tomorrow.” Romney had asked Jenkins to host the Mortgage Banking Industry Leadership Roundtable, which consisted of a geographically-diverse group of 25 mortgage bankers that met in Costa Mesa, Calif. Roundtable participants shared their thoughts, experiences and concerns with Romney on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the future of government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Topics ranged from the future of Fannie Mae to the impact of proposed regulations, such as Qualified Mortgage (QM) standards. Click here to see an overview of Romney’s housing plan.
