The Wounded Warrior Project Charity Event took place Nov. 13 at Open Mortgage's flagship branch in Austin, Texas. The results were a resounding success. The community came together to sponsor the event, giving items to support our silent auction, as well as food and beverages. As a result, Open Mortgage is proud to write a check to the Wounded Warrior Project in the amount of $3,600. "We all came together for a worthy cause and we believe this money can help our Wounded Warriors get a better chance for recovery when they come home from their tour of duty," said Scott Gordon, founder and CEO of Open Mortgage.
All of the silent auction items donated by local businesses were auctioned and sold with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project organization. The food and beverage sponsors were very generous and included Budweiser, Delish Bakery, Jimmy John's, La Madeleine, Tito's Vodka, and Truluck's. Two other sponsors contributed their services, Hill Country Event Rentals and Mike Cisneros Photography (photos available upon request). Attendees enjoyed the event, bidding on auction items, and dancing to the music of 18 Karat.
In addition to the charity event, Open Mortgage is extending its Veteran's Day Special through the end of the year. Any military personnel serving or have served that apply for a VA loan from now until the end of 2012 will receive a free appraisal. Veteran's price of appraisal will be reimbursed at closing—a value up to $500, visit www.openmortgage.com for details of the program.
