Belak Named VP of Program Management at CSBS

The Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) has announced the appointment of Michael J. Belak as vice president for Program Management. He will be responsible for developing and managing the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). As vice president for Program Management, Belak will ensure NMLS meets state regulator needs, improves the efficiency and effectiveness of state and federal regulation and promotes the principles of regulatory coordination. “Michael is a terrific addition to CSBS,” said Bill Matthews, CSBS executive vice president and president of the State Regulatory Registry LLC, the CSBS subsidiary that operates NMLS on behalf of state regulators. “He will be responsible for managing the overall development of NMLS, with a focus on the technology required to maintain NMLS operations and improve NMLS functionality.” Belak has more than 25 years of experience as an information technology executive in an array of industries. He is also a national speaker, an author, and a university professor. He has a BS from The Ohio State University, an MBA from The George Washington University and a Doctorate from the University of Maryland University College.
