eLEND Names Avi Marcus Chief Legal Officer
Marcus will oversee legal strategy and corporate governance as the lender expands its use of AI, automation, and digital mortgage technology
American Financial Resources LLC, which does business as eLEND, has appointed Avi Marcus chief legal officer and corporate secretary.
Marcus brings more than 15 years of executive legal experience across mortgage lending, real estate, financial services, and technology. He has built and led corporate legal and compliance functions and advised executive teams on regulatory matters, risk management, corporate governance, and complex transactions, according to eLEND.
In his new role, Marcus will help oversee the legal and governance framework supporting eLEND’s investments in artificial intelligence, automation, and other digital lending tools. The Parsippany, New Jersey-based mortgage lender said his responsibilities will include helping ensure those technologies are deployed securely and in compliance with changing regulatory requirements.
“Technology continues to reshape every aspect of the mortgage industry, and legal leadership must evolve alongside it,” eLEND President and CEO Robert Pieklo said. “Avi brings an exceptional combination of legal expertise, executive leadership, and technical understanding that will help us continue innovating responsibly.”
Marcus also has experience developing AI-powered technology from concept through production, according to the company. That technical background will inform his work overseeing legal and compliance considerations as eLEND expands technology intended to improve processes for its mortgage broker partners.
“As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into mortgage lending, organizations need legal leadership that understands both the opportunities and the responsibilities that come with innovation,” Marcus said. “I’m excited to join a company that is committed to leveraging technology to improve the lending experience while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, governance, and integrity.”
