Hillary Clinton’s bout with pneumonia is not the only thing that she kept secret in recent weeks: She and her husband have quietly purchased the mansion next to their primary residence in Chappaqua, N.Y.

The Washington Post reports that the Clintons spent $1.16 million in August to acquire the neighboring property that belonged to architect Charles C. Chepigin. The property was first listed in March for $1.22 million and was twice reduced before the Clintons bought it.

The Clinton campaign declined to answer media inquiries on why the former president and the current Democratic presidential nominee purchased the Chepigin home or what they planned to do with the property, nor is it clear whether they paid in cash or through a home loan. The news of the transaction only came to light when CBS News discovered tax and real estate records detailing the transfer.

In addition to their Chappaqua holdings the Clintons also own a $1 million mansion located near the British Embassy in Washington, D.C.
