Employees and friends of Mortgage Network Inc. recently hit the pedals for one of New England’s most popular cycling events in support of local land preservation.

Mortgage Network served as a major sponsor of this year’s “Tour De Greenbelt,” featuring 25-mile and 50-mile routes through 11 towns and more than 50 historic and extraordinary properties. Money raised through the event benefits Essex County Greenbelt, Essex County’s Land Trust that works with local landowners and communities to protect the region’s farmland, wildlife habitat and scenic landscapes. A total of 18 Mortgage Network employees and friends rode in this year’s event while additional supporters distributed refreshments and encouragement at the company’s water stop.

“The Tour de Greenbelt is fast becoming a proud tradition in Essex County,” said Robert McInnes, president of Mortgage Network. “The Greenbelt has contributed greatly toward maintaining a healthy local ecosystem and enhancing the region’s quality of life, which anyone riding in this year’s event could plainly see. Once again, we were very proud to be involved.”
