Castlelake Names Luke Jackson, Betsy Sylvester Partners
The promotions elevate leaders in residential mortgage finance and capital formation
Castlelake has named Luke Jackson and Betsy Sylvester partners, promoting the leaders of its residential mortgage finance and client management businesses.
Both joined the investment firm in 2019 and will continue leading their respective areas.
Jackson, now a partner in residential mortgage finance, oversees the firm’s investment activities across residential transition loans, Non-QM loans, prime jumbo loans, mortgage servicing rights, and small-balance multifamily loans. His responsibilities include directing the investment team and originating and executing investments globally.
Previously on Castlelake’s specialty finance team, Jackson helped establish and expand its residential finance team and investment strategy, according to the firm.
Sylvester, now partner, leads capital formation and global client management, including fund and strategic partnership formation and investor relations. She will continue directing those activities and supporting the firm’s strategic relationships.
Before joining Castlelake, Sylvester held client advisory and private wealth positions in investment management and investment banking. She began her career in the nonprofit sector.
“Luke and Betsy have each made meaningful contributions to Castlelake’s growth and evolution, bringing deep expertise, strong judgment, and a collaborative approach to their respective areas of leadership,” said Yen-Wah Lam, president and chief people officer.
Lam credited Jackson with helping build and scale the residential finance strategy and Sylvester with strengthening client management and investor relationships.
The promotions follow Castlelake’s expansion in residential finance this year. The firm acquired a majority stake in Resfin Partners, parent of correspondent platform Eastview and business-purpose lender Lendmarq, and formed a joint venture with Redwood Trust contemplating purchases of up to $8 billion in prime jumbo loans. In August, it priced its first residential transition loan securitization, totaling $261.3 million.
Founded in 2005, Castlelake specializes in asset-based private credit and manages approximately $40 billion in assets across its investment strategies, according to the firm.
