Veteran technology executive brings nearly three decades of leadership in banking, gaming, and healthcare to oversee AI, cybersecurity, and technology strategy

Click n' Close has appointed Merv Govender as its new chief information officer, adding a technology executive with nearly three decades of experience leading digital transformation initiatives across banking, gaming, and healthcare.

In his new role, Govender will oversee the company's technology development and deployment strategy, with responsibility for cybersecurity, infrastructure, artificial intelligence adoption, and technology supporting Click n' Close's lending operations and third-party origination channels.

Govender brings more than 27 years of technology leadership in highly regulated industries, where he has led large-scale modernization efforts, strengthened cybersecurity programs, and aligned technology investments with business strategy. More recently, his work has focused on helping organizations implement AI to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.

"Click n' Close has always viewed technology not just as a competitive advantage but as an operational imperative, and our entrepreneurial mindset means we're willing to look outside this industry for the talent and ideas that push us forward," said Ian Kimball, president of Click n' Close. "We've found that leaders who have seen what technology can accomplish in other high-stakes, compliance-driven environments bring a perspective this industry needs. That is precisely where Merv has spent his career, which is why we're confident his background will directly inform how we build and deploy technology going forward."

Govender said his experience working in regulated industries will translate well to mortgage lending as the company continues investing in technology and AI.

"Having spent my career in highly regulated industries, I understand the stakes involved in getting technology right, and mortgage is no different," Govender said. "My focus will be on building the kind of infrastructure and AI capabilities that benefit not just Click n' Close but also its partners and, ultimately, borrowers."

Click n' Close is a multi-state mortgage lender serving wholesale, correspondent, and retail channels. The company is known for its proprietary down payment assistance programs, One-Time Close construction lending products, and its 1st Tribal Lending division, which specializes in Section 184 home loans for Native American borrowers.
