Former Chase Executive Kevin Christopher Returns To Key Mortgage
The 34-year industry veteran will lead mortgage production after overseeing retail sales across 17 states for JPMorgan Chase
Key Mortgage has hired former JPMorgan Chase Managing Director Kevin Christopher as senior vice president of mortgage production, bringing a familiar executive back to the Baird & Warner family of companies.
Christopher has 34 years of financial services experience, according to the Chicago-based independent lender. Most recently, he served as managing director of mortgage sales for JPMorgan Chase’s central division, overseeing retail mortgage sales across 17 states.
His earlier career included leadership positions at BMO Harris, U.S. Bank, and Prism Mortgage. Christopher also previously worked for Baird & Warner Financial Services, a division of Key Mortgage’s parent company that later became Key Mortgage Services.
That history makes the appointment a homecoming as much as an outside hire.
“I am excited to return to a company I have always admired,” Christopher said. “Throughout my career, I’ve focused on removing friction for loan officers so they can maximize their opportunity.”
Christopher said Key Mortgage’s connection with Baird & Warner’s real estate, title, and insurance businesses helped draw him back. He described the combination as an integrated model that can provide loan officers with access to more of the homebuying process.
Key Mortgage was established in 1988 and operates as a family-owned independent lender. Its parent company, Baird & Warner, traces its Chicago roots to 1855. Key Mortgage is licensed in 17 states, although its physical branch network remains concentrated in the Chicago area.
“Growth has always been a priority for us, and Kevin’s expertise will help strengthen our position as we continue expanding and serving our clients for the long term,” Key Mortgage President Ralph Melbourne said.
Christopher’s move from one of the nation’s largest banks to an independent, purchase-focused lender gives Key Mortgage an executive with experience managing production across a broad geographic footprint. His initial focus, according to the company, will include supporting loan officers, expanding Key Mortgage’s reach, and building on the lender’s existing production platform.
