MBA Names New Legislative Affairs VP
George Rogers has extensive experience as a consultant, policy aide
The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) announced that George Rogers has joined the association as vice president of legislative affairs. In this role, he will be responsible for advocating on behalf of MBA's legislative and policy priorities on Capitol Hill, primarily focusing on Republican members of the United States Senate.
Rogers, an experienced government affairs executive and attorney, arrives at MBA from Republic Consulting LLC, a government relations and lobbying firm he co-founded in 2019.
“George is an accomplished leader with a proven track record of developing and executing successful public policy advocacy campaigns both on behalf of clients and during his time providing counsel to a broad range of leaders on Capitol Hill,” said Bill Killmer, MBA's chief lobbyist and senior vice president of legislative and political affairs. "I am confident his well-established network of relationships – and thorough knowledge of financial services and housing issues – will help lead to successful outcomes for MBA and its members.”
Before co-founding Republic Consulting, Rogers held various ascending roles at Wexler & Walker, where he most recently served as CEO. Before that, he helped manage Senate confirmation strategies as part of the Presidential Transition Team in 2017. He served as a policy advisor and counsel for former Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) during his time as speaker of the House and House minority leader. Additionally, Rogers was a member and the official proceedings script team leader of the Republican National Convention (2008-2016) and held various leadership counsel roles for the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar (R-IL).
Rogers earned a Juris Doctor from Indiana University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
