Rocket Adds Sarah Watterson To Board
The former Fortress Investment Group managing director brings experience in capital markets, mortgage lending, real estate, and corporate finance
Rocket Companies has appointed Sarah Watterson as an independent director, adding an executive with capital-markets and mortgage-industry experience as the company integrates two major acquisitions.
Watterson’s appointment expands the Detroit-based homeownership company’s board to 10 members.
She currently serves as president of 3 Star Sports & Entertainment LLC, which owns, invests in, and operates businesses and assets across sports, media, real estate, and related sectors. Watterson is also a special advisor to Brightline West, where she previously served as president and led development of a high-speed passenger rail line connecting Southern California and Las Vegas.
Watterson began her career at Goldman Sachs, working with publicly traded investments. She later became a managing director at Fortress Investment Group, where she evaluated and managed businesses across financial services, real estate, hospitality, transportation, and lending, including mortgage origination and servicing.
Her previous roles also include serving as a chief executive officer and head of investor relations, helping businesses access public debt and equity markets.
“Sarah’s experience in capital markets will make her an important outside voice as we continue to grow and improve the homeownership experience,” Rocket founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert said. “Equally important, Sarah believes in Rocket’s culture and shares our passion for innovation. I look forward to working with her.”
Watterson’s background in capital markets, real estate, and mortgage lending gives the board additional experience relevant to that integration effort.
“Rocket Companies has built a business that is changing how people achieve the American Dream,” Watterson said. “It’s a privilege to join the board at such an important moment in the company’s growth.”
