Wintrust Mortgage Adds Huntington Veteran, Creates National Growth Role
Longtime Huntington executive Dan Shanahan joins Wintrust Mortgage to lead sales across portions of Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan
Wintrust Mortgage is bringing in a longtime Huntington mortgage executive to oversee LOs across portions of three states while creating a new national role focused on referral relationships and growth.
Dan Shanahan has joined Wintrust Mortgage as senior vice president and regional sales manager for the South Region, overseeing sales across portions of Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. He succeeds Tricia Brouwers, who has been named senior vice president of national strategic growth and business development.
For Shanahan, the move follows nearly 25 years at Huntington National Bank, where he led mortgage teams throughout the Midwest and developed relationships across the same markets he will now oversee for Wintrust.
At Wintrust, his responsibilities will include recruiting, talent development, and supporting the region's loan officers as the lender looks to expand its presence.
“Dan is extremely well thought of by the loan officers he has worked with over the years,” said Shane O'Neill, executive vice president and national sales manager at Wintrust Mortgage. “We look forward to adding someone that we know takes care of his people first and foremost, which is a core value of Wintrust.”
A New Role Built Around Growth
Brouwers' move is more than a change in territory. Wintrust created the national position to focus on strategic relationships, partnerships, and ways its sales force can help referral partners grow their businesses.
O'Neill said the lender had been receiving enough requests for that type of support that it decided to build a position around it.
“In a challenging interest rate market Wintrust is doubling down on supporting our referral partners,” O'Neill said. “Over the last decade Tricia has established herself as an expert in helping partners expand their business. With the number of requests we were getting for support we decided to create a role around it.”
Brouwers has more than three decades of mortgage industry experience and has spent more than 10 years in leadership at Wintrust. In her previous regional sales role, she built and led an organization that reached more than $1 billion in annual production, according to the company.
“Growth has always been about more than numbers, it starts with people and relationships,” Brouwers said. “Instead of asking our referral partners how they can help us grow, we should be asking, ‘How can we help you grow?’”
Shanahan said he plans to work alongside the region's sales teams as he settles into the new position.
“The strength of the Wintrust organization, its commitment to its communities, and its relationship-focused culture create an incredible foundation for growth,” Shanahan said. “I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside our teams to build upon that foundation.”
Wintrust Mortgage, a division of Barrington Bank & Trust Company, N.A., lends in all 50 states and operates more than 65 lending offices.
