Thornburg welcomes Mark PlastersMortgagePress.comexecutive vice president, national sales manager, sales and marketing Thornburg Mortgage Inc. announced that Mark Plasters has been named executive vice president and national sales manager for the company's growing mortgage origination channels. In this newly created role, Plasters will head the national expansion effort of Thornburg's origination sales network. His primary responsibility will be to facilitate growth on the origination side of Thornburg's business, ensuring that the company's correspondent and wholesale channels receive the sales and marketing support they need in order to effectively expand. "In 2006, Thornburg Mortgage achieved annual mortgage originations of $5.6 billion, which was an increase of 13 percent year over year," said Thornburg Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer Joseph Badal. "In this phase of our development, we believe that hiring industry veterans will be a key factor in our ability to continue to fuel origination growth. Mark's extensive experience and senior level contacts throughout the mortgage banking industry should allow us to maximize our potential for origination growth. Plasters joins Thornburg from GMAC Bank and Residential Funding Group, where he was most recently the managing director of correspondent sales in the Northwest division. His geographical responsibility included overseeing sales directors in 18 states, focusing on loan acquisition through various means including flow loan delivery, bulk acquisitions and assignment of trade. Plasters' group successfully achieved growth in market share and production volume during his tenure. Plasters' experience spans more than 26 years in the mortgage industry, including sales and operations, managing national accounts and originations growth in correspondent and wholesale channels.
