Kislak Mortgage expands operations across Sunshine State

Jul 21, 2010

J.I. Kislak Mortgage LLC (Kislak Mortgage) has announced its strategy to open as many as 10 storefront offices across the state of Florida to provide residents with mortgages over the next year. Initially, the company is looking to open stores across Florida in areas including Miami-Dade, Broward, Duval and Hillsborough counties, as well as in Orlando, Jacksonville, and other major metropolitan areas. The offices will offer qualified Floridians mortgage loans and products to help them achieve the American dream of homeownership. “Kislak Mortgage is a historic Florida-based mortgage lender and we believe that now is the time for Florida mortgage buyers to be served by a Florida mortgage company. Currently, there are thousands of Floridians looking to buy a home who have to wait to be approved for a mortgage, even with good credit,” said Tom Meyer, chief executive officer of Kislak Mortgage. Kislak Mortgage will shorten the waiting period for qualified buyers by bringing all of the underwriting and funding operations in-house in its Miami Lakes, Fla. offices. Currently, mortgage approval times are running as long as a few weeks. Kislak Mortgage will shorten that time to two to three days if the applicant meets all the necessary underwriting criteria. “Kislak is dedicated to offering the best level of service possible and providing access to mortgages as quickly as is feasible," said Meyer. "These buyers are being unnecessarily delayed in securing mortgages due to bureaucratic red-tape and internal processes that are slowing down the big banks. Kislak is a name well known to today’s borrowers as their parents, and even grandparents, turned to Kislak to finance their Florida dreams. Kislak Mortgage stands ready to continue to support Florida home ownership." Kislak Mortgage anticipates employing upward of 150 loan originators and servicers. Approximately half of these jobs will be loan officers who will staff the Kislak Mortgage stores throughout Florida. Kislak’s processing, underwriting, and funding operations anticipate adding dozens of new employees to handle the flow of mortgages originated by its bricks-and-mortar operations across the state. “The Kislak Organization is a 104-year-old real estate and financial services institution with deep roots in Florida," said Meyer. "For nearly 60 years, we have been committed to helping Floridians access mortgages. Of equal importance as an organization, we are committed to the creation of good jobs throughout the state to benefit local economies. We are seeking top quality loan originators to join the Kislak team in order to best serve the needs of our customers.” For more information, visit www.kislak.com.
