Quicken Loans Named Top Workplace in Michigan

Nov 19, 2013

Detroit-based Quicken Loans and its sister company Quizzle.com, a consumer technology debt management Web business, have been named the Number One Top Workplace in Michigan by the Detroit Free Press for the fourth consecutive year. Quicken Loans has more than doubled its size since moving to downtown Detroit in 2010, and today has more than 8,000 team members working in the city’s vibrant urban core. The company, which has grown to more than 10,000 team members nationally, serves mortgage clients in all 50 states and closed a record $70 billion in home loan volume in 2012. The home loan lender expects to break the previous record by closing more than $80 billion in 2013. “Every day we make a conscious, concerted effort to connect with our team members to let them know just how valuable they are to our company—here’s nothing more important,” said Bill Emerson, CEO of Quicken Loans. “People want to be free to innovate and create. Our goal as leaders is simple, get out of the way and let that happen.” Also located in Detroit’s burgeoning tech district, Quizzle.com has developed innovative online tools enabling consumers to gain a complete understanding of their home, money and credit—including providing free credit reports and credit scores for consumers to measure their credit profiles. “As a growing business, our single largest asset is our amazing team members,” said Todd Albery, Quizzle.com CEO. “They are the lifeblood of Quizzle, the passion that sets the tone for everything we do. We appreciate each and every contribution they make to growing our company and helping consumers understand the role credit plays in their everyday lives.” The Top Workplaces are based solely on employee feedback. The survey is conducted by WorkplaceDynamics LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. This year 216 companies and more than 50,000 employees at Michigan businesses participated in the Top Workplace list.
