The Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) has announced the hiring of a new Head of Government Affairs Francis Creighton. Creighton is a financial services industry and Capitol Hill veteran, currently serving as Chief of Staff to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT). He previously served as legislative Director to Rep. Steve Israel and in other policy positions for Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Rep. Sam Gejdenson.
“Francis is a dynamic leader with deep knowledge and expertise that will be key to our advocacy efforts in 2014,” said Tim Pawlenty, CEO of FSR. “His vast experience in the financial sector and in Washington will put him at the helm of an important role at FSR representing the industry. We look forward to addressing issues like housing reform, cybersecurity, terrorism risk insurance and others critical to consumers under his leadership.”
Creighton was the vice president and chief lobbyist at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) at the height of the housing crisis, leading a team on all federal state and local government relations efforts. He also served in the Clinton Administration at the Department of Labor, focusing on retirement and employee benefits.
Creighton is a graduate of the University of New York at Albany and also holds a Masters of Public Policy from Georgetown University.
