Mortgage Network Partners With MMBA to Rebuild Massachusetts Home

Employees and friends of Mortgage Network Inc. recently partnered with Rebuilding Together Boston to rebuild a home of a local Dorchester, Mass. family that had fallen into disrepair.

Twelve employees worked alongside members of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association (MMBA) to add safety modifications and exterior improvements to the home a Dorchester resident who suffers from lymphedema and has become unable to safely move in or out of her residence. Because the homeowner cares for three children with autism, volunteers at the local Achieve Program and runs a support group for local parents, the home renovations also give her greater independence and freedom to do these things.

“It's not hard to write a check to help out a deserving family in need, but it is much more rewarding to come out and work shoulder to shoulder with other lenders as well as this wonderful family,” said Douglas Smith, general counsel at Mortgage Network and an MMBA board member. “When we arrived the home had no insulation, but with our help, this mother and her children will no longer be cold this winter.”

Rebuilding Together Boston is one of many community organizations Mortgage Network supports all year around. Recently, the company sponsored “Tour De Greenbelt,” which raised money to benefit Essex County Greenbelt and Essex County’s Land Trust that works with local landowners and communities to protect the region’s farmland, wildlife habitat and scenic landscapes.
