A new study from LendingTree of the nation’s 50 largest metro areas has determined Minneapolis is the most popular destination for Millennials in pursuit of homeownership.

In a data analysis culled from its proprietary online marketplace from January to November 2019, LendingTree identified Minneapolis, Buffalo, N.Y., and San Jose as the top metros where Millennials make up the largest percentage of purchase requests: 56.2 percent in Minneapolis, 56.1 percent in Buffalo and 55.8 percent in San Jose. At the bottom of the list was Tampa and Las Vegas, where only 40.3 percent of purchase requests came from Millennials.

The oldest Millennial homebuyers were in three California markets–San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles–where the average age was 31.6 years; the national average was 30.8 years. Minneapolis, Buffalo and Detroit had the youngest members of this demographic seeking homes, with an average age of 30.2 years.
