Dark Matter Promotes Three Executives Amid Technology Expansion
New CTO, CFO, and general counsel appointments follow a CEO transition and coincide with an integration designed to streamline loan-sale processing
Dark Matter Technologies has promoted three longtime executives to its C-suite as the company expands its artificial intelligence and automation capabilities, including a new integration designed to eliminate manual loan-sale data entry.
The Jacksonville, Florida-based company announced Friday that Don Oliver has been named chief technology officer, Chris Medvidofsky chief financial officer, and Blaine Prober general counsel. All three have been with Dark Matter since its launch in 2023.
The promotions follow a CEO transition earlier this year, when Vikas Rao succeeded Sean Dugan, and the September appointments of two outside executives to oversee product strategy and professional services.
Oliver, previously vice president of platform engineering, will lead Dark Matter's technology organization, including development of open APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectivity, and AI agents within its Empower loan origination solution and Aiva Intelligence platform.
He brings experience in Amazon Web Services and AI and has represented Dark Matter on AI initiatives within parent company Constellation Software.
Medvidofsky, previously vice president of finance and accounting, will oversee financial strategy and operations. He has managed the company's finances since its founding and was recognized as a 2026 HousingWire Finance Leader.
Prober moves into the general counsel role after serving as vice president and deputy general counsel. He previously served as lead deal counsel for Empower and has participated in industry discussions about the legal and compliance considerations surrounding AI adoption.
“We have been purposeful about how we build this leadership team, and I’m thrilled by the caliber of the group we have been able to assemble,” Rao said. “We invest in people, give them room to grow, and move them into larger roles when both they and the company are ready. Don, Chris, and Blaine earned these roles through the quality of their work and their commitment to our clients.”
The appointments follow the September hires of Salvatore Piccola and Gil Valera. Piccola, a nearly 24-year PNC veteran, joined as senior vice president of product strategy, while Valera, formerly of ICE Mortgage Technology, became vice president of professional services.
New Integration Targets Loan-Sale Processing
The leadership changes come amid continued investment in Empower and its automation capabilities.
On Thursday, Dark Matter and Mortgage Capital Trading (MCT) announced a new integration that automatically transfers loan-sale commitment data from MCT Marketplace into Empower, eliminating the need for lenders using both systems to manually re-enter the information.
The companies estimate the integration could save up to three minutes per loan, or approximately 2.5 hours for every 50 loans processed.
For secondary marketing teams, the integration addresses a routine but potentially costly handoff between loan-sale execution and the loan origination system. Automating the transfer can reduce duplicate data entry and the risk of discrepancies between commitment records.
The integration is available to existing mutual customers and represents the first phase of a broader connection between the two platforms.
Dark Matter has also expanded its AI offerings this year, introducing MCP support that allows lenders to build AI agents with controlled access to Empower data. In August, the company extended Aiva-powered document validation to the point of sale, allowing certain documentation issues to be identified earlier in the application process.
The latest promotions put Oliver in charge of that technology development, Medvidofsky over financial operations, and Prober over legal and compliance matters, while the company's newer executives focus on product strategy and implementation.
