Former FHA Commissioner Montgomery Joins NewDay USA As Vice Chairman
Bringing decades of policy experience to the company’s leadership, NewDay adds housing finance veteran as vice chairman of its advisory board
NewDay USA, a mortgage lender focused on serving the nation’s veteran community, has named Brian D. Montgomery as vice chairman of its advisory board, bringing decades of housing finance and policy experience to the company’s leadership. Montgomery’s appointment is effective immediately and underscores NewDay USA’s commitment to expanding its mission of supporting Veterans and their families in achieving homeownership.
Montgomery is uniquely positioned for the role as the only individual to serve twice as Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Commissioner, having held the position under Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. He also served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), where he oversaw FHA and Ginnie Mae operations, managing significant portions of the department’s budget and programs.
Veteran Leadership Enhances Mission
NewDay USA CEO Rob Posner highlighted Montgomery’s extensive leadership record in federal housing finance and said his expertise will be instrumental in advancing the company’s efforts.
"Brian's record of leadership at the highest levels of federal housing finance speaks for itself," said Posner. "It is an honor to have him join us at NewDay and be part of our mission to help veterans and service members achieve the American dream of homeownership. As we continue to set new standards and raise the bar for how the mortgage industry serves our nation's heroes, Brian will play a critical role and bring considerable expertise."
Montgomery’s role will include strategic guidance to support NewDay’s operations and mission‑driven programs.
Admiral Thomas Lynch, executive chairman of NewDay USA, emphasized that Montgomery’s commitment to service aligns with the company’s values and will enhance its impact on the Veteran community.
"After a career in uniform, I know true service when I see it," said Lynch. "Brian's unwavering commitment to service embodies the values that define NewDay. His experience will be instrumental as we continue working with our nation's veterans to build the lives they have earned and deserve."

The lender is known for disciplined credit risk practices and low delinquency rates, particularly within Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA) loan programs.
"Having dedicated my career to advancing responsible lending and expanding access to homeownership, I can say with confidence that NewDay is grounded in purpose, integrity, and a deep understanding of military life," Montgomery said. "Their disciplined approach to credit risk and remarkably low delinquency rates underscores their commitment to serving veterans, service members, and their families."
