Homespire Mortgage and Homes For Our Troops joined forces to help provide adapted homes for severely injured veterans.
With Homespire Mortgage being a Mission Partner of Homes For Our Troops, the company is donating $50,000 to help support the construction of adapted homes. This donation will go towards homes like the one currently being built in Poolesville, Md. for Army Sergeant Emmanuel (Manny) Melendez-Diaz, a Veteran who uses a wheelchair due to a leg amputation.
According to SGT Melendez-Diaz and his wife Natibel the adapted home will help them reach financial independence and peace of mind. The home will include full wheelchair access to the yard and kitchen, which will remove many of the daily obstacles the Veteran faces in his present home.

Homespire recently participated in HFOT’s Dec. 4 Volunteer Day event for SGT Melendez-Diaz’s new home, in which company volunteers worked together to lay the landscape around his future home. Homespire will also attend the final key ceremony slated for late January to join in officially welcoming the couple to their new home.
“We are honored to have Homespire Mortgage as a Mission Partner,” said Tom Landwermeyer, president/CEO at Homes For Our Troops. “Enthusiasm and support of companies like Homespire Mortgage help advance our important mission of Building Homes and Rebuilding Lives.”
“We are honored to support HFOT in its mission to help restore freedom and independence for our nation’s most severely injured Veterans, empowering them to rebuild their lives,” said Michael Rappaport, president of Homespire Mortgage. “We are tremendously grateful to those who sacrificed so much for us. As mortgage professionals, we understand the significance of finding the perfect home, and through our partnership with HFOT, we are thankful for the opportunity to support Veterans like SGT. Melendez-Diaz make that dream a reality.”
