MBA Taps Brendan Kelleher To Lead Government Housing Policy

Kelleher to lead policy and regulatory advocacy for government housing and strengthen Industry ties
The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) has appointed Brendan Kelleher as associate vice president of government housing finance, advancing him from his current role as director of residential loan administration policy.
Kelleher, who joined MBA in 2022, initially served as associate director before being promoted to director within the same division. Before joining MBA, he held a series of leadership roles at Rocket Companies, culminating in his position as director of public policy and government affairs. In that role, he led external relations and policy advocacy efforts, with a strong focus on mortgage servicing.
In his new position, Kelleher will be responsible for driving MBA’s residential government housing policy and regulatory advocacy priorities. He will also oversee critical agency and industry relationships and manage key MBA member committees.
His responsibilities include tracking and analyzing policy changes, regulations, and legislation affecting both government-sponsored enterprises and private-label markets, with a focus on their impact on MBA members. He will serve as the staff lead for the MBA Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG) and support several of the association’s business-focused communities and networks.
“For the past three years, Brendan has leveraged his industry experience to lead MBA’s advocacy efforts on Loan Servicing policy with insight, deftness, persistence and, most importantly, results,” said Pete Mills, senior vice president of residential policy and strategic industry engagement at MBA. “He has developed strong relationships and garnered the confidence of MBA members, which will be critically important in filling this important role at MBA. He is well-deserving of this promotion, and I am excited to see him excel.”
