NEXA Mortgage National Sales Director John Flores

As National Sales Director, Flores is tasked with helping build, ensure success of the mega-brokerage’s LO team

NEXA Mortgage, the nation’s largest mortgage broker, has brought on John Flores as its national sales director. Flores has more than two decades of experience in the mortgage industry as well as a background in Division I athletics and coaching.

Flores’s small-town upbringing in Washington State and early life values have helped shape his athletic and professional careers, NEXA noted. His years as a college baseball player and coach gave him experience in motivating, leading, and building winning teams — an area on which NEXA stakes its reputation.

“I proudly wear the NEXA name on my shirt,” Flores stated in a release, emphasizing that the mega-brokerage is “a company where people matter, and success is shared.” On Facebook, Flores describes himself as a baseball and country music “fanatic” and “a mortgage professional for many years.”

Since beginning his mortgage career in the early 2000s, Flores has held a number of roles in the industry, including working as a loan officer himself. He ran his own “fix-and-flip” property investment business, served as vice president - branch manager at mortgage lender and servicer NOVA Home Loans, and was a regional manager at California-based Bay Equity Home Loans, a full-service residential mortgage lender and mortgage broker founded in 2007.

According to NEXA, three key elements at the company resonate with Flores:

  • An LO-first culture;
  • A platform that features competitive rates, compensation, and a broad range of products; and
  • The opportunity to shape the future of the company — particularly as a brokerage where LOs stay for the long run.

“John is a competitor and a coach at heart, and that combination makes him the perfect fit for NEXA,” said Mike Kortas, CEO of NEXA Mortgage. “As National Sales Director, he will play a vital role in helping our loan officers reach new levels of success,” Kortas added, contending that Flores “understands that at NEXA, the loan officer always comes first.”

“John’s track record speaks for itself — growth, leadership, and relentless commitment to his people,” said Jason duPont, COO of NEXA Mortgage. “In his role as National Sales Director, he’s not just here to drive production, but to help our loan officers build legacies that last.”
