New American Funding Recruits Will Mullinix And His Carolinas Team
The Carolinas-based group brings more than $2 billion in career originations, with Mullinix citing product breadth, national reach, and culture in the move
Will Mullinix and his Mullinix Mortgage Group have joined New American Funding (NAF) from Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group, bringing an established Carolinas lending operation and its support team to the national lender.
NAF announced the move Oct. 13, saying the group has originated more than $2 billion over Mullinix’s more than 20 years in the industry. The team operates from offices in Charlotte and Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.
Recent production data give a more specific picture of the business NAF is recruiting. Modex attributes $250.7 million across 319 loans to Mullinix for its November 2025–October 2026 reporting window. Purchase loans accounted for $165.3 million, or approximately 66% of recorded volume, across 216 loans. Refinances represented $82.5 million across 100 loans, with home equity lending accounting for the remainder.
Mullinix cited product breadth, national reach, and culture in explaining the move.
“New American Funding has a mom-and-pop feel, but with a larger, expansive product platform and national reach,” he said. “There’s also a strong culture fit, and it was just the right move for our clients and us.”
The group’s loan officers and support staff are joining him, including Taylor Linde, Morgan Wise, Lenzi Moore, Don Walker, and Marty Pizzo, according to NAF.
The group focuses on residential purchase and refinance lending. NAF said the group is licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.
NAF is also putting its technology investment into its recruiting pitch. Chief Production Officer Pat Bolan said Mullinix joined to build and scale the group, pointing to the lender’s platform, operational support, and planned Vesta loan origination system rollout in 2027 among the resources available to help him expand.
As NMP previously reported, NAF selected Vesta in July, with a phased rollout scheduled to begin in 2027. The lender said the system is intended to reduce manual handoffs and give originators and operations employees more time to work with borrowers.
