Tony Santangelo Takes On Wholesale Sales Role At Verus Mortgage Capital
Says one of his goals will be to help introduce the company to the mortgage broker community
Verus Mortgage Capital, the nation’s largest issuer of securitizations backed by Non-QM loans, has hired Tony Santangelo as regional sales manager - wholesale.
Santangelo, who has deep experience as a mortgage industry exec, recently made the announcement via a post on LinkedIn. He noted that at Verus, he will develop and grow the wholesale account executive team and work to introduce the company to the mortgage broker community.
Santangelo joins Verus after two and a half years at mortgage lender NMSI Inc., which was founded in 2008 as National Mortgage Service Incorporated, most recently serving as sales manager for the Eastern division.
Prior to that, he was Eastern division vice president at Unite Mortgage — now Jet Mortgage — a national wholesale lender that provides various loan products like FHA/VA, conventional, bank statement, DSCR, and Non-QM loans.
Santangelo also served as vice president for East Coast Region production at Interfirst Mortgage Company and as an area manager at Symmetry Lending, which provides home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) to mortgage brokers, wholesale mortgage lenders, and retailers across the U.S.
But Santangelo’s experience in the mortgage industry stretches back decades. He once was a loan officer at a savings and loan association, an account executive at Prudential Home Mortgage, and a senior regional vice president at Bank of America, where he led wholesale mortgage banking operations. He held that latter position at BofA back in the mid-2000s.
Verus, which is based in Washington, D.C. with operations also located in Minneapolis, purchases loans from correspondent lenders and brokers across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and works with correspondent and wholesale lenders to provide support, competitive products, and training.
