West Capital Lending Names Michael Guazon SVP Of Sales Strategy
Former loanDepot direct lending executive joins growing brokerage with focus on production, retention, and recruiting
West Capital Lending has hired longtime mortgage executive Michael Guazon as senior vice president of sales strategy, adding a former loanDepot direct lending leader to its executive team.
Guazon brings more than two decades of sales and leadership experience and spent the past decade at loanDepot, most recently serving as senior vice president of direct lending.
His departure comes only months after loanDepot promoted him to that position. In announcing the promotion earlier this year, loanDepot said Guazon had been part of the company's growth since joining in 2015, serving in sales leadership and helping drive production and customer-facing results.
At West Capital, Guazon will work across the sales organization, focusing on production, retention, recruiting, technology, and data, along with the experience of the brokerage's LOs.
“This one is personal for me,” West Capital Lending co-founder Danny Iskander said. “I've known Michael for almost 20 years. I've watched the leader he's become, the teams he's built and the impact he's had on thousands of people throughout his career.”
Guazon began his mortgage career in 2003 as a loan officer at LendingTree and moved into sales management two years later. He went on to hold leadership roles at LendingTree and Discover before joining loanDepot in 2015.
His arrival comes during a period of significant expansion at West Capital. The company says it has funded $7.5 billion so far in 2026 and operates in 47 states with more than 170 investor and lender relationships.
Guazon's responsibilities will include identifying opportunities for loan officers to increase production and helping improve the technology, data, marketing, and support available to West Capital's sales teams. Recruiting and retention will also be part of his mandate as the brokerage expands.
“Michael understands the loan officer because he's been the loan officer,” said Giorgio Bertuol, president of sales at West Capital Lending. “He's produced at a high level, he's managed at a high level, and he's spent more than 20 years figuring out what makes salespeople successful.”
Guazon said he considered several large lenders and brokerages before choosing West Capital, citing his longstanding relationship with Iskander and the company's culture.
“My goal is to help West Cap grow while making the business better for the people building it,” Guazon said. “That means listening to our teams, looking closely at what drives production and retention, and making sure our loan officers have better data, technology, marketing, and clear opportunities to grow.”
