Zillow Elevates Rentals And Agent Software Executives

Strategic leadership shifts aim to enhance Zillow's real estate platform
Zillow has announced the promotion of two executives: Michael Sherman has been named senior vice president of Zillow Rentals, while Cynthia Taylor steps into the role of senior vice president of Agent Software and Advertising.
Sherman, who has been with Zillow since 2011, has led Zillow Rentals since 2023 and has played a key role in its development, according to the company. Zillow sees growth potential in the rental market, as data from 2024 indicates that more than three times as many households moved into rentals compared to home purchases. Zillow noted, however, there is no single platform that comprehensively serves renters searching for available homes.
Under Sherman’s leadership, Zillow Rentals has expanded its marketplace, providing renters with a broader selection of listings while offering property owners greater visibility. Rentals now account for approximately 20% of Zillow’s total revenue. The company’s recent partnership with Redfin, Rent.com, and ApartmentGuide.com is expected to further broaden that reach, allowing multifamily property advertisers to connect with a wider audience through a unified advertising solution.
“We will continue to scale and grow our marketplace, making it even easier for renters to find their next home and for property managers to reach the right renters,” Sherman said in a release.
Cynthia Taylor, who joined Zillow in 2015, has led product and business operations in Zillow’s industry and agent-facing areas. With a background in product leadership and operations, Taylor has overseen initiatives aimed at helping real estate professionals manage and grow their businesses. One of those is Zillow Showcase, an “immersive listing experience.”
The expertise of both Sherman and Taylor is expected to play an important role in Zillow’s continued efforts to enhance partnerships and refine its technology-driven real estate experience for buyers, sellers, renters, and agents, according to the company.
