Zumper Debuts Real-Time Rental Search App Inside ChatGPT
Zumper launches ChatGPT integration enabling renters to search listings, view market data, and schedule tours through conversational AI prompts
Zumper, one of North America’s largest privately owned rental marketplaces, has launched a new rental search app within ChatGPT, bringing real-time housing listings and local market insights directly into AI conversations.
Once users add the Zumper app from the ChatGPT App Store, they can initiate natural language queries such as “show pet-friendly rentals under $2,500 with in-unit laundry” and receive up-to-date listings, property details, photos, pricing, and embedded links to schedule tours or contact property managers — all without leaving the chat interface. The app retains Zumper’s full filtering capabilities, enabling refined, personalized searches through conversational prompts.
A key component of the integration is Rental Trends, a built-in feature that automatically displays the latest local rent data for the city being searched. This real-time market context aims to give prospective renters an informed view of pricing conditions before contacting landlords or making rental decisions.
Russell Middleton, co-founder of Zumper, stated that embedding the company’s marketplace and rental data into ChatGPT “puts the full power of our marketplace … into a natural conversation flow,” enhancing the renter journey and offering property owners a modern channel to reach engaged searchers.
“Our focus is building technology that improves the renter journey while giving property owners modern tools to reach new audiences,” said Middleton.
The launch reflects broader shifts in how renters search for homes, with industry data indicating a year-over-year increase in AI tool usage during rental searches. According to Zumper-survey results, renter adoption of AI in the home search more than doubled between 2024 and 2025.
The Zumper app is available immediately via the ChatGPT app directory, and future iterations may see ChatGPT proactively recommending the app in response to rental-related queries.
